Four Things Women Want From a Man

After decades of teaching and counseling couples, influential Christian leader A.R. Bernard is releasing his new title: 4 THINGS WOMEN WANT FROM A MAN. The book highlights the four vital qualities women want in a man ― attributes that lead to a successful and rewarding relationship.

THE MINISTRY

A.R. Bernard built a 10-year career in finance, working his way up to operations specialist in the consumer lending division at a major New York bank before he and his wife Karen used their savings to open a small storefront church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. From there, the church outgrew one facility after another, from a high school auditorium to a Days Inn hotel, from the Salvation Army auditorium to a renovated supermarket on Linden Boulevard. Today, CCC is situated on an 11.5-acre campus in Brooklyn, with a master plan to accommodate 700 units of affordable housing, commercial, and residential space. There is also a satellite location on Long Island, with plans for more satellite locations in the future.

“Christ in Culture” is the mantra upon which CCC was built and functions today. From the start, A.R. Bernard has educated, nurtured, and equipped his congregants to navigate their faith with sound values and biblical principles, within an ever-changing cultural climate. A.R. Bernard is a visionary who illuminates the minds and hearts of everyone he engages by feeding them spiritually, informing them intellectually, and motivating them for action.

THE FRUIT

As the spiritual health of the nation is increasingly challenged and compromised, A.R. Bernard remains a pillar of Godly influence and a shining beacon of hope. He welcomed President Reuven Rivlin of the State of Israel to CCC, where New York Congressional members and elected officials greeted him on his first visit to the U.S. With his dynamic communication skills, A.R. Bernard has led Bible studies for celebrities in entertainment, athletics, and government. Many well-known personalities regularly attend services at CCC, including Denzel and Pauletta Washington, Alonzo Mourning, Angela Bassett, Curtis Martin, and Robin Roberts. Other noteworthy visitors have included Bill and Hillary Clinton, Reince Priebus, Kim Cattrall, and many more.

A.R. Bernard was chosen to deliver mass with Pope Benedict at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and with Pope Francis at ceremonies for the 911 Memorial Museum. At the behest of Oprah Winfrey, he was selected to speak at the 80th birthday celebration of beloved poet Maya Angelou, who called him a “brilliant teacher.” Named by New York Magazine as one of the most influential figures in religion, A.R. Bernard is the President of the Council of Churches of the City of New York representing 1.5 million Protestants, Anglicans, and Orthodox Christians. He sits on the NYC Economic Development Corporation Board and served on NYC School Chancellor’s Advisory Cabinet.

Outreach programs under A.R. Bernard’s leadership include a food pantry serving the Brooklyn community, a Prison Ministry, and various city organizations, including the New York Police Department’s orientation. He is also the founder of Brooklyn Preparatory School in New York City and Cultural Arts Academy Charter School. Formed in 1993, BPS is a premiere early education institution dedicated to serving children ages 3–6. Their June 1999 first grade graduates ranked 91st in the national percentile in reading and 96th in the national percentile in mathematics.
